After being bombarded with too much marketing, Christ Pratt's latest vioce gig is finally here. From the same studio that made such masterpieces as Mitchells vs Machine and Spider-Verse, now we have the new animated Garfield Movie. I watched it as soon as I could. And now I can share with you the spoils. How are the jokes? What is the plot? Does it push boundaries? Or is it simply content. From Sony Pictures Animation comes a visual feast, but come join me as we look a little under the surface of this movie, as we ask the big question: So.. Is The Garfield Movie Any Good?

Spoilers ahead! We'll be going through the plot in chronological order! Though if you've seen the trailers, they basically grab from every scene anyway.

Maybe its just me, but the further we get away from the original Garfield strips and cartoon, the weirder this IP gets.

Chris Pratt would have made a better John than a Garfield.

Just saw the movie today and i personally loved it. Though, I do agree that Jon didn't get a big enough role. Also, if anyone noticed, Nermal was in the film for about a second, he gave Garfield food. Noticed several references to Binky the Clown aswell, which was a nice touch. 9/10 for me, my friends who were at the cinema with me liked it too.

I mostly thought the movie was just not a Garfield movie.
It felt like if you removed Garfield from it and replaced it with any other character, it wouldn't change how you feel about it.
some parts were funny, but that was mostly the slapstick.

I think that we need to all say to movie marketing people
*stop putting all of the jokes into the first trailer*

I bet that there's an entire R-rated version of this movie based on the voice-acting outtakes alone.

I’m going to be honest: as a Garfield fan since childhood, I *loved* this movie. The slapstick was fantastic and there were in-jokes and references aplenty. It is surely a huge improvement over Mark Dindal’s last movie, Chicken Little.

Does anyone else remember the Garfield and Friends TV show? That was the GOOD lasagna

You know, Andrew Adamson should have directed a Garfield Movie with Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy as Garfield and Odie, respectively

The roadkill bit was probably my favorite part. Also, spoiler, one bird DID die. It was the therapy bird guy. I really didn’t like how commercialized this was, especially right off the bat with the Tinder and Bumble “BUY PREMIUM MEMBERSHIPS!” But ignoring all that it was a decent movie

its been a really long time since ive seen a movie wich i actually enjoyed and laughed at alot and i absolutely loved the humor in the movie especially the part where garfield gets stuck in the vent and the joke is that he is fat, but he points out that it makes absolutely no sense since his father who is easily twice the size makes it through no problem and i think the idea of the world itself bending its rules just to annoy garfield and no-one else is the most garfield joke they could have made

We’re getting old. This is a good introduction to a classic character we’ve known for YEARS 1:57

i'm a 1980s Lorenzo Music Garfield TV specials and Garfield & Friends fan. I'm not planning on seeing this movie in theatres, however, you mentioned that Odie crafting things in the background was a major part of this movie's plot. This would seem to have been inspired by something that did happen in one of the primetime specials: in A Garfield Christmas (1987, expanded in 1991), Odie is seen throughout the special grabbing little bits of junk and, at the end of the special, we find out that he was making a backscratcher as a present for Garfield.

I'm dreading the answer to this question, but do I prefer the lack of smartphones in movies like this just because I'm old? I'm 34, so I've used smartphones for about half of my life, but I still like when animated movies of old properties just ignore the existence of smartphones. The Peanuts Movie was wonderful. Do younger people feel that way at all?
I think I answered my own question. I'm just old.

At least with Bill Murray his voice does have a bit of a Garfield tone to it that fits the character, Chris Pratt's voice on the other hand... Is just Chris Pratt, nothing Garfield about it at all.

4:07 To be fair. In the Garfield his 9 lives, Garfield was kicked out for eating all the pasta in an Italian restaurant. Its possible that this applies to this movie as well.
