This is a big problem in elementary school.
Having to raise your hand, having to get permission from the teacher(usually delayed to torture the kid), having to get a hall pass, and the stress and embarrassment of the whole process.

Used to be able to hold a lot. Now at 68 when it is time to go it is time to go.

When I was 5 years old, I had a fear of visiting the toilet. Because of this, I would keep my pee in for hours, even when it became extremely painful. I started getting bladder infections and then had 2 operations to reinsert the ureters. 55 years later I have had kidney failure, dialysis and a transplant.
So seriously, do not keep it in!

This is strange, when I sleep I can hold it subconsciously. But when awake as soon as I feel it . Gotta go

Thank you so much, that was super helpful. I’m in the mid range of symptoms and now I know the extreme consequences will absolutely respect my need to pee !

Katherine Hepburn's father was a urologist and in her memoirs she said her father told her to always use the bathroom everytime she passed it, before bed, and first thing after getting up in the morning regardless if she felt the need to urinate. I took that advice after reading her book because for years I would try and hold it all day, urinating only once or twice in the total number of awake hours. Why is this something that is ignored by PCPs during annual exams? We are told to eat right, watch our blood pressure and drive safely but not urinate regularly without the urge. Makes no sense when it should be part of basic education on your health.

Great advice. I had the false notion that occasionally holding my urge to urinate was adding strength to my sphincter, kinda a pseudo kegel exercise. I will now stop this harmful practice. Thanks for your topic.

Thank you so much Doc. I had some urinary issues and mad a list of 12 possible causes. this seemed to be the least probable but after this I can walk into the hospital now and explain my symptoms in detail. Thanks once again

Wonderful piece of advice from a true pro! I've been guilty of "holding" since my youth and never knew this consequence. Mercifully, it hasn't caused any harm to date (I hope).

Thanks for this! My manager has told the workforce we have to train our bladders by holding it in so we only all go to the toilet at dinner time. Once a Day but seen as they have a duty of care for our health and safety and it's detrimental to our health that will not be happening.

Thanks for the information! I have suffered my own bladder problems. I do not know what caused my bladder problems. But I do know it is a life changing situation.

Oh wow this is extremely important information. I was waking up 3 times a night to go to the bathroom and my Physio said it’s because I am peeing too much during the day and to teach my muscle to hold onto it for longer. I no longer wake up to pee but I think I have gone too far and didn’t know the risks. Thank you for this video it has potentially saved me a lot of grief in the future

I know what you are talking about. Thank you! It's very important. I'm a person who tells my friends in 6 hours of a journey, to stop for a break every single 2 hrs at the petrol pumps. When I urge them to do so, many of my friends appreciate it. I'm a leader. My problem is I don't know how to hold unlike some of my friends. You teach us why to hold but believe me I'm very frequent. That's how I'm.

That's it, everybody needs to know this, but first we need to double the amount of public restrooms!

In addition to the points raised here, use some UT support plants and herbs like cranberry and dandelion leaf. Trust me, these really help. They cleared URI I didn't know I had. When peeing, I felt some very annoying but hot itch in the urethra within a week of taking these two plants. Now I drink them daily as tea.

Ayurveda has also always mentioned that a human body should never hold back the natural pressures like pressure of evacuating our guts, pressure of evacuating urinary bladder, pressure of sneeze etc ...whenever we try to stop these natural pressures from releasing the pressure will somehow kick back in body and cause serious problems...

Thanks for this wonderful informative video 🙏🙏🙏best of luck from India 👍👍👍
