It’s quite common for COVID-19 to make you feel breathless. You might also have a cough, which could be either dry or mucus-y. Once you're feeling better, you might find that some breathlessness or coughing carries on for a while. Here are some easy exercises you can do to help you breathe a little easier, and clear any mucus you might have in your chest. Put our tips for how to breathe better into practice and you'll find you can improve your breathing in no time.

Follow these three breathing exercises daily to help manage your breathing and clear mucus from your lungs. The first step for how to improve your breathing is breath control. Put your hand on your stomach to feel the rise and fall and breathe as evenly and effortlessly as possible. Release as much tension as you can as you breathe.

Next is deep breathing. Leave your hand on your stomach and take a long, slow, deep breath in. Hold the breath for 2-3 seconds before exhaling gently. Try to take 3-4 deep breaths, keeping your shoulders relaxed.

Lastly, you can use huffing breaths to clear mucus from your lungs. Take a breath in and breathe it out quickly through your mouth. This should help force the mucus upwards so you can cough it out. Repeat some breath control breathing after the huffing exercise.
