Messiah really wraps up Paul’s story, it’s kind of essential to the arc.

Personally I think he needs to make Children of Dune as well. With the breaking down of Paul in Dune Messiah us fans will be left without a triumphent hero but a broken down old man. Through Paul's children we get our redemption arch. Also more of the story is concluded leading to fewer questions about what next.

I missed it before but I think in the third trailer, when they show the Emperor's ship entering Arrakis' atmosphere, you can see a guild heighliner in the reflection

I sooo want Denis Villeneuve to adapt "Rendezvous with Rama" because that's such a awesome story imo and Villeneuve is perfect for it. If such a adaptation were hugely successful it could pathe the way for Hollywood to have the confidence to start faithfully adapting other classic science fiction novella from the likes of Asimiov & C. Clarke.

Thank you for the update and Merry Christmas! I'm thinking positively that there definitely will be a third Dune film. In the mean time I'm reacquainting myself with Rendezvous with Rama. I'm almost finished with the first novel. I've never read the entire series of Rama books, so that will be a goal for 2024.

Dune Messiah doesn't have enough of a theatrical narrative to stand on its own. It's filled with long political, religious and sociological pontifications. The book sets up Children of Dune more than is a story in itself. It's a pivot. The mini-series did the right thing by combing Messiah and Children of Dune. That would neatly tie up the first half of the saga before God Emperor of Dune turns everything on its head.
