Canon EOS 1100D

The EOS 1100D is a competent entry-level DSLR that currently offers the cheapest way into the Canon DSLR system. Fairly easy to use and able to produce consistently good image quality there isn't much that's inherently wrong with the 1100D. Yes, the shiny plastic finish doesn't score highly in the style stakes and the small, low-resolution LCD monitor isn't much of a selling point either, however the camera itself remains solid enough. If you're a firs-time DSLR buyer and really want to get on board with Canon then it may well be worth saving up a bit more and lavishing it on the 550D - it might be a year older, but for the extra £100 or so, it's also quite a bit more camera. If your budget can't stretch that far then the 1000D remains a decent enough camera to learn the ropes with.

I wish they would make the camera have 1080p instead of 720p and at least at 16 megapixels. I also wish they would make it a 3' LCD screen and I wish it had a bit of a grip on it. That would be my dream beginner SLR, (my first). Mainly I wish they would improve the megapixels and HD movie mode.

I have purchased one. Been looking at the reviews. Hopefully I will learn something. I have had an ultrazoom Canon Powershot SX10is for the last three years. I have enjoyed it, have taken good photos with it, but my knowledge of photography has me yearning for a better camera with a more responsive sensor. I hope I get that with this unit.

Why do you want a 16 megapixels camera? are you going to crop or make some huge prints? :)

I bought one from a charity shop for £30. For what it is, its ok, its a lot lighter than my 40D so better for outdoor as you can shoot all day.

hey I have this camera but I when I press the zoom button near the power switch it zooms in but once i've taken the picture it shows small on the screen as if the zoom never took? please can someone help me out on this!
