A woman who came from the working class area of Moss Side in Manchester which housed thousands of cotton mill workers.
Used the socialist support and the left wing ideologies to gain support in the struggle to win the right to vote.
Then when the bill was passed, she abandoned the socialist view and became a tory.
She literally used the working class to climb the social ladder, and when she got there she pulled the ladder up behind her, denying rights to working class women and men she so avidly fought for herself.
