Heavy Loads on Muddy Roads

Heavy Loads on Muddy Roads

This is no easy job. Two-cylinder tractors, like this one, navigate slippery, narrow mountain paths after a rainstorm, often hauling over 10 tons of solid wood. The weight makes every move risky, and on these muddy slopes, one wrong turn could send the load tumbling. It takes patience and skill to handle these sharp, dangerous turns. Logging can be controversial due to its environmental impact, but for the villagers below, this wood is vital to survive the harsh winter ahead.

Even with all that caution, getting stuck is almost inevitable. When the wheels sink deep into the mud, laying logs underneath can sometimes provide enough grip to keep moving. But when that’s not enough, nearby excavators often step in to help push the tractor free.

Accidents like this are all too common. It’s tough work, but these drivers know their safety comes first. When things go wrong, ditching the load is often the best choice—because no job is worth risking a life.

a lot of skills to maneuver the tractors... but not a fugging skill to put some gravel in the road... what a waste of intelligence...

How complicated the steering mechanism is. Just see those hydraulics cables, the whole engine rack moves instead of wheels.

There was mud before the mountain was stripped of its forest cover...

What is the point of overloading on bad road, you still need the excavator, so why not just use a dedicated tracked vehicle
