August book, favorite read, ‘There, There.’ by Tommy Orange, Native American fiction. Though I wish everyone would read it, i know that I cannot force my culture onto others if they are not interested. It is about a cast of characters who are all urban Indians, starting with one boy with Down syndrome and ending with the same boy. They are all going to go to a Pow Wow, just youtube a pow wow to see, for different reasons. So that is the end stage of the book, and I will not say thing more about it because of spoilers.

I picked up this book, because his sequel/prequel to this book is up for the Booker Prize in English Literature, and it is called ‘Wandering Stars.’ Which I have put on my TBR for November because that is the month that my Tribe was restored by the US Government, after the termination act of Native American Tribes land grab from the 1950s. I am mix of Oregon Coastal tribes, some of which were relocated in their own trail of tears. So because of the termination act, I grew up in a small city, so the books speak to me.

This is my second comment, the first comment was entirely about my favorite book in August, and the follow up read to that book and why.

Every time the book ‘When the Moon Hatched’ I am thinking of a Doctor Who episode. As for an easy gateway into Sci-fi my husband suggests ‘A Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy’

Braiding Sweetgrass would be the type of Non-Fiction book similar to your white book. Each chapter tells a story about a time in a native woman professor of ecology. Her life growing up, relationships with her children and men and finding her empowerment to the latter. I am listening to it on audible, and loving it. Will definitely pick up a hard copy when I am next in the US.

Funny Story is incredible. Was a 5-star read for me, up there with Happy Place. The MMC is just like Nick Miller from New Girl, if you've ever seen it! So so good x

I just finished Wisteria. It was the best of the 3 books. It was giving everything it needed to give. The only reason it wasn’t 5 stars was because the ending felt so rushed and just wrong 😭
