Earthquake shakes Northeast, New York City

I was at the epicenter of this. Cats got scared and pictures shattered after falling off walls.

I felt as well. This was my first ever earthquake. I thought there were no earthquakes here 😶

From where I was the earthquake seemed much longer? This seemed like a second while mine rumbled for awhile

All the comments about broken knickknacks and such. Did no one notice the poor thing saying, “help me!”?? There is reassurance for the person as someone responds, “you’re alright.”

I felt it (actually heard it more then felt it) this morning as well. Thought maybe my generator was doing something weird. For me it only lasted a couple seconds as well.

Sucked in the Bronx. Felt like a road milling machine passing by full power. Felt vertical motions. Nothing horizontal thankfully. Also made this scary sound outside.
- Notice the mirror vibrating for a bit after the main bump? Lasted a good 14 seconds or so.

I live in Hudson Valley NY in the village of walden and everything was shaking and I could feel the vibrations from underneath I knew right away what it was we had one a few years ago but this one today was worse could really see it and feel it!

I feel bad for them one of their knickknacks broke in the video. We live in south western Connecticut I slept through it but my mother said she felt it.

That’s 4.8? Oh my gosh. That looked like a 5. When my city had an earthquake it didn’t shake much and it was 4.8.

When it happened that morning my wife thought I was testing another subwoofer. But I explained I don't test subwoofers before breakfast.
