Mitchell Starc,
has cemented his place as one of Australia's most lethal and versatile fast bowlers across all formats, continuing a legacy of left-arm pace that followed in the footsteps of Mitchell Johnson. While Johnson was known for his raw pace, Starc combines speed with control, particularly over swing, making him a formidable force in international cricket.

Starc’s prowess was most notably displayed during the 2015 Cricket World Cup, where his deadly inswingers tormented batsmen. His 22 wickets at an average of 10.18 earned him the Player of the Tournament award as Australia claimed the trophy. He replicated his World Cup dominance in 2019 with 27 wickets and added 16 more in the 2023 edition, becoming the leading wicket-taker across all World Cups by the end of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Starc's impact extends to the IPL, where he became the most expensive player ever bought at auction when Kolkata Knight Riders secured him for INR 24.75 crore (US$ 2.98 million approx.) ahead of the 2024 season. Despite being one of the most sought-after T20 players, Starc’s appearances in the IPL have been limited due to injuries and international commitments. Prior to joining KKR, his best IPL seasons came with Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2014 and 2015, where he took 14 and 20 wickets, respectively.
