I also think the reason D&D popularity has skyrocket is because its a lot less overwhelming w/ 5th edition being so easy to pick up and great third party resources such as: Roll20, Fantasy Grounds, DnDBeyond, and etc. that make the game easier to play by making it easier to find groups and manage games from both the DM and players sides

Most of them got their PHB by now, but they have access to mine on DDB, wich is awesome :)
