Best explanation of the controller I've seen so far and I've watched a bunch on YouTube. Well done!

I have this controller. It's great! The only thing I would like there to have been is a timer option which turns ON at dawn and OFF at dusk, instead of the other way round. I'm using it for watering a greenhouse which I want to be done during the day, not at night. Great video. (The leaflet does explain battery type: b1 sealed lead/acid; b2 gel battery; b3 unsealed lead/acid. Not suitable for Li batteries).

Thank you. Best explanation. I lost my manual and this was of great help.

battery type is super important. b1 is sealed. b2 is gel and b3 is flooded type batteries. there are more. check the manufacturer for those detail but those are the main three most will use

I believe the battery type is for what type of battery you are using. On other cheap controller B1 is general led acid, b2 is lithium ion, b3 liFeP04, b4 sealed, b5 gel, b6 floaded. Each has various voltage to charge that type of battery. At least that's what I think.

Thanks for showing. I have just ordered the 1000 watt version of this solar panel system with the hundred amp control unit. The control unit looks the same but 20 amp can keep you going.

Battery type mode sealed lead acid is b1…. other codes b2 to b7 are for AGM, Gel, flooded wet, Lithium etc. As far as I know b1 sealed lead acid is the only type supported on this controller. It works as designed on lead acid and pretty good for the price paid. If you have an expensive LiFePo4 battery do not destroy your expensive investment with a limited/cheap solar controller…. just go buy a correctly rated Victron MPPT charger!

Thank you save me from brain blow up, the Manual was uselss, so this helps bec most people mix up understanding what is Float, Discharged/Reconnect, and Discharged stop. Best setup and play with it in ur backyard with any lights or anyhting to hook up homework of how use battery and solar charging hours. Make u happy ready go real camping not get battery right dead flat.

Not shown in this manual, but the manual I got with an MPPT controller identifies the battery types
b01 = Lithium battery
b02 = Gel battery
b03 = Flooded battery (lead-acid)
These controllers supposedly automatically identify the attached battery - they don't
Set it manually for the correct battery if need be

I think this is the video I needed. I just hooked up my system yesterday, and patted myself on the back at how well I’ve done. Lunchtime today the batteries are showing 17volts. Omg, I hope that’s just surface charge. Turned the whole lot off, search you tube for answers
👍thanks

Maybe yours works, but mine did not.
I tried the 30A and the 100A models.
The voltage reading (on both) was .6A higher than the rest of my meters.
Neither model actually charged my battery.
I have 2 sets of 2 batteries wired in series for 24VDC and 5 sets of 2 100W Panels wired in series parallel.
Neither model gives me an output for the load.
Don't know if the panel voltage is too high or low, and the user's manual does not tell me anything useful.

the battery type is explained just to the right, in the manual. lead acid / agm and lithium get different charge/discharge settings.

Nice and OK. But this was 6 years back. I am so eager to know if this unit still is in working order and if not, how long did it serve you.
Also an update of long use or if there is anything else you want to add based on your own experience with this controller and battery you had.
Have a great day.
