One of the things this book talks about is always measuring backwards against yourself. Comparison is the thief of joy. When you measure against someone else’s goals or the ‘Ideal’, you will always lose because you are always working toward a moving target. Not to say you shouldn’t set goals or even big scary stretch goals, but your value and worth doesn’t come from achieving those goals. When we measure backwards, you learn to live in gratitude and start appreciating how far you’ve come and celebrate your wins everyday. This will 1000% change your entire perspective.
When I look back at my journals from 5 years ago I am BLOWN AWAY by what has changed and how far we’ve come. It’s a way more fun activity to celebrate vs tell yourself how bad you suck because you haven’t reached the end. Guess what? There is no end. You are constantly expanding so therefore your goals will always change. It’s like trying to get to the edge of the horizon….
What are some wins you can celebrate right now?
