Thank you for sharing your knowledge on Minor & Major Pentatonic scales and please continue to help others. BTW, I have a gentle reminder and correction to avoid confusions to the viewers about intervals. You should say 3 frets (1 1/2 steps lower) but not 3 steps. Remember, 1 step=2 frets, 1/2 step=1 fret. Please do a little bit of research or review Music theory especially for guitar coz it helps a lot in your musical journey! To beginners: PENTA means 5. Use only 5 notes of the scales instead of 7 (or 8 octaves). I believe, 90% of the music genres we heard are in Major and Minor Pentatonic or combinations of both with a little bit of Major scales in it. When doing ADLIB/Guitar solo, try to experiment by combining these Major and Minor pentatonic Scales. Pentatonic scales are commonly use for Blues, Blues/Rock, Rock or Metal, and Country genres. The late Eddie Van Halen & J. Hendrix, J. Page, Eric Johnson, J. Bonamassa, Steve Vai, Ritchie Blackmore, Satriani... are excellent on executing Pentatonic. Also, David Gilmour of Pink Floyd is exceptional in using Minor Pentatonic scale on most of his guitar solo, while Eric Clapton songs are mostly Major Pentatonic and Blues Scale.
TSweezy Ph: WWHWWWH that is the Major scale intervals. W means whole step = 2 frets and H means half step = 1 fret on guitar (or Piano).
