In India, we need to stop calling it "Ed Tech" and call it what it is - "Exam Tech"

They made education a "dhandha"

That’s absolutely non sensical
There’s a reason offline coaching makes that much money and not online

YouTube gives for free for what Edtech charges.

No hate against the guy but the end goal of ed tech founders looks to be cashing out via IPO. Same goes for that preacher kunal shah of cred who's never earned a profit or proved his business model on unit economics!

This is exactly what is wrong with the ed-tech sector. He only focuses on revenue pools. That's why all the politicians have schools and colleges.

Question is, what are you going to elevate the learning experience? Unless someone focuses on that, ed-tech deserves the negativity it gets.

Edtech is at a rollercoaster ride I feel, the ultimate goal would be to hit the IPO as it happens in US.

Edtech in india is nothing but online coaching for competitive exam where odds of you getting selected is very minuscule, it's nothing but profit making (oh sorry not even that 😅) Its nothing actually, real ed tech is one where you get some skill, knowledge, this is important but to some extend everyone wants to make money that's why they are in this

In your chatgpt podcast episode you missed out on this topic but EdTech is one of the sector which will get rattled by Generative AI and as more reasoning capabilities are being incorporated in the current gen ai models eg:ChatGPT, the more detrimental it’ll prove for EdTech.

I have been working in K12 and Higher Ed publishing for almost 12 years…year after year since then we have been seeing new edtech ventures coming and going..but could not replace printed books…in fact some of the early edtech companies even started publishing once they learned their lessons… actually not everything needs to be changed.. some things are better in their own traditions

People have problem in profit making.. but for me i can say..
These ed tech sectors have turn the tables for people from villages.
Not in NEET or JEE, but in government job competition.

I got much help from online coaching..

Seeing what is happening with BYJU'S pretty sure whole edtech will collapse soon

Edtech has to think fresh strategies to democratise education and making it affordable and accessible to the worlds largest student pool in India

I don't think online edtech will last longer than online players who also have an offline presence. e.g. Allen Institute has now started online coaching as well, but I think still people will enroll more in their offline Institutes rather than online.

The words Education and Revenue pools don't go together.

The final product as graduate passouts what we businesses hire is best left unsaid. Having said that EdTech is not solving real world problem of making fresh off the mill workforce employable, it is merely cashing in on a revenue opportunity.

Byjus is not an EdTech company, they are acquisition company which sells parents insecurities. They work Loan Providers majorly.
