Bebop 2 Follow Me - Cycling along the Vltava River

The hype about drones becoming your cameraman in the sky came true for me today as I succeeded in filming myself cycling slowly along the river Vltava just north of Prague. The Bebop 2 drone is controlled using the Follow Me function just implemented in the latest beta version of the AR.Pro 3 software by Shell Shrader. My LG G4 smartphone (the controlling device) was showing 3m GPS accuracy at the time.

You can maybe see that during the lower altitude flight I was just a little concerned about the possibility of the drone drifting over and hitting a tree... but the whole thing was without any such incident.

Roll on the first consumer drone that can produce this quality film whilst avoiding obstacles and costing less than $500! (and fitting in a bag slightly smaller than the one on my back...) Otherwise the Bebop 2 weighs 500g and can fly for more than 20 minutes on one charge, which suits me fine.

You must have nerves of steel to fly that thing so close to the trees. I would be concerned about that. Glad it didn't crash and the flight went off smoothly.

can't wait the official version of Android :) It will be the first app with follow me feature on android
