Treasury furlough scheme extended after new England lockdown - BBC News

The Treasury's furlough scheme, which has subsidised the wages of up to nine and a half million employees, was due to end in October.

Now it’s been extended across the UK for another month, after the Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a new lockdown in England.

So Furlough is again going to save us? I got into debt from it as I was struggling to pay my rent. I had to borrow money which I'm still paying back as my housing association threatened me that my contract would not be renewed. Do I have to go through all that again?

This sounds like the nail in the coffin and simply because there is not enough capacity in the NHS - period. The fact that Nightingale hospitals were build without staff capacity in the first instance is hard to believe - what a waste of people will die anyway - lot's of them....some from Covid, many from cancer depression and poverty. The only one clapping this time round is Amazon...very sad and hard to know what to tell our children/students about the future they will have to face.

My employer made redundancies in June. They could have kept us all on furlough until December...

Government should be very careful to give furlough because some limited company restaurants owners don't provide furlough to staffs. It's a cheating with government and the staffs. Staffs are becoming deprived of from money.
