❤Be the person who breaks the cycle. If you were judged, choose understanding. If you were rejected, choose acceptance. If you were shamed, choose compassion. Be the person you needed when you were hurting, not the person who hurt you. Vow to be better than what broke you—to heal instead of becoming bitter so you can act from your heart, not your pain.

What a powerful video!! Very appropriate since it’s valentines ❤ never listened to such a short Ted talk before but this one is top ten best I’ve ever come across in terms of value given 🙏🏾

It's not that you're being lied to about romance. It's much worse than that. It's that you want to be lied to.

I think for every person the word “love” has different meanings. For someone it might be dedicating time to the partner, for someone else it might be protecting the partner. However, in our society there are always some norms that people use to listen, so in otherwise case people think that in their relationship something is wrong if they do not follow the norms. Thus the thought of “happily ever after” appears I guess.

There's no such thing as 'Happily Ever After' in real life. You realize immediately that not all endings are supposed to be happy.

I didn't understand the difference between the love she describes and the love that is "sold" as ideal. Everything she described is exactly what is sold. What exactly is she proposing?

No hate to those that are in love and in a relationship. But I guess we must first put emphasis on finding love and worth in yourself first before trying to find it in another person. The other way around make us seek for an ideal, rose-colored thing that's not necessarily always butterflies and sparks in reality. This is the reason why nowadays some leave their relationship when it's no longer ideal, without exhausting all means to fix it. Then on the hunt again for the next fantasy.

Lock up platitudes. This video should be there.

It's still a wish list that says: what do I get out of it. That's why most relationships end in divorce: two egocentric people trying to live together. That doesn't work well.
