Students, staff and faculty at the BCIT Burnaby Campus will soon have a new space to learn, rest, explore and regenerate, with the opening of the Health Sciences Centre in spring 2022.

The building uses the WELL Standard for construction which helps set a new benchmark that integrates environmental sustainability standards alongside human health and wellbeing.

At 106,660 square feet, the $78.3 million Centre advance BCIT’s teaching and learning technologies and significantly increase training capacity for key in-demand healthcare professions. Set to be the most sustainable building on the Burnaby campus, the four-story building will be a net-zero carbon emission space, integrating patient-care simulation, allied health and laboratory science, while staying true to the applied learning BCIT is known for.

BCIT Health Sciences students will be well prepared for clinical roles and their career environments through technology-based learning experiences and sophisticated simulation environments.

The new BCIT Health Sciences Centre shows leadership and vision for the future of learning and training of the next generation of nurses and healthcare technicians we need in the years to come. Glad to see simulation in VR/AR/XR incorporated in the training of the students. In the future we'll see that extended to trades, aeronautics, computing & IT, engineering, applied research and business and media. Can't wait to see it go "live" in the Spring of 2022 for the benefit of our BC students, international students and faculty.
