I have a Rechargeable 9V battery on my Garrett carrot! And use a piece of metal attached to a zip tie on the back of the pinpointer to gain an extra 2” of depth when I need it….I slide the piece of metal attached to the zip tie forward until my pinpointer detects it, then I slide it back just a little until it stops beeping….instant supercharged pinpointer….👍🏼

I use a rechargeable 9v USB battery which also has a built in LED 4 bar meter to test condition.

I also have 3 of them. All Mi-6. One still new in the box and the other 2 i use havy. They've been working for 2-3 years now. The only problem i have is that one of them sometimes bcomes bezerk but this stops when i connect him for a few seconds to a powerbank. Seems to reset the pinpointer.

You can get an MI-4 right now for $89 each, I just bought one. A really good deal on a very capable pinpointer that is rechargeable. If you don’t need the connectecity of the MI-6 to XP gear, the MI-4 is the way to go. If you need the MI-6, they sell for $119 still agood deal compared to the Garrett, Minelab and Nokta offerings, two of which (Garrett & Minelab) are not rechargeable.

Lucky today we have rechargeable lithium batteries, when I started detecting a little while ago (1970, s) we had six yes six nine volt batteries in the detector, but they were a little bit cheaper then, providing you were getting a return with your detector. 🤑

Yes, we always carry 2. I have always used rechargeable batteries for all my detectors and pinpointers. I have the mi6 but normally carry the carrot area pointer(lol) for 90% of locates. The trx gets saved for small, difficult and precise locating.

My 10 year old Garrett pro pointer is still going strong... I use rechargeable 9v batteries off Amazon....and run $1 9v batteries from the dollar store for backup..

Jeremy, I use an MI-6 with my D2 unit so I can hear it thru the headphones. It P’s me off when it won’t connect to the D2. The Carrot is used with my Garrett detectors and wireless headphones. I use Amazon 9V alkaline batteries; they are reasonably priced and work fine.

Hey I was wondering if you could help me out on what detector I should get. Simplex, legend, or impact? I found a good deal on the impact so pricing is close to the same. And I knew you have tried them all

Nobody makes a pointer that can last over 2.5 years of hard use. I hunt almost every day in the summer since I can't in winter and every pointer dies in about 2.5 years. My MI4 is ok but the button does clog up easily, the volume and the vibration strength are not optimum and it's got medium sensitivity depth even on max. It was a decent price though. If someone could just make one pointer done right I'd be happy lol.

After wasting $25 on a cheap no name pointer, I researched them all and decided on the …Teknetics TEK-Point $149
Pulse Induction Technology: High performance in saltwater and highly mineralized soils; superior to VLF designs.
2xAA operating cost is 1/8th that of any 9V design.
Deepest Detection Available: powerful Pulse Induction design detects coins up to 4 inches deep.
Waterproof down to 6 feet deep.
Abrasion Resistant: Tip will not wear through like pinpointers made from general purpose plastic.
Frequency-Shift: Programmable to eliminate interference with your detector.
Molded Rubber Grip: Non-slip and comfortable.
Powerful LED light, Lost-Mode-Alarm and One-Touch Ground Cancelation.
Programmable Features: Control Sensitivity (3), Vibrate or Beep-and-Vibrate Audio Alert, Quick Retune, LED on/off.
I didn’t care about Bluetooth and liked the green color.
