Pine Marten Playing in the forest

Pine Marten are members of the Mustelid family, along with Stoats, weasels and Badgers. Their main difference and advantage they have is that they can climb trees. This allows them to source food above forest ground level, bird eggs for example. It also means they can escape predators quickly.

The population of Pine Martens is growing and are now quite common, if elusive, in the Aberdeenshire countryside.
