The Porsche 911 GTS Cabriolet America is Dumb?

Porsche is great at making special edition cars

The Porsche 911 GTS Cabriolet America is an homage to the original 356 Speedster America and spiritual successor the the 964 America Roadster; both very, very cool and iconic models.

How does Porsche go about honoring these vehicles with their GTS Cabriolet America? In arguably the dumbest, borderline-scammiest way possible.

The way around this is for the consumer (i.e. us diehard Porsche fans) to push back on our dealers on the “bridge car” model and let Porsche know we aren’t stupid and don’t need or want cars like the GTS Cab America Exclusive PTS Super Limited Super Rare Extremely Exclusively Limited America Rare Exclusive model and then basically, build more of the cars people want (GT class, Turbo S, etc) and stop fleecing us with bridge cars to obtain the ones we want. I don’t believe more production of GT3’s is going to hurt the market at all.

If you’re going to bash a car, you should get your facts right. Almost nothing you said was accurate. They made a 117 cars. 100 for America and 17 for Canada. 1 is white for the white collection and the rest Azure Blue 356.

The car has a complete bespoke interior that is hand done. The outside has for the first time ever painted in 3 colors Porsche wheels painted by hand. They did a matte black windshield and there’s some subtle nods to the original car, including the color.

Now, I agree on they could have done some mechanical enhancements.

I am an owner of one of the cars for my collection and I’m guessing you don’t own one or maybe any car for that matter.

I owned a 55 Speedster Super and am very aware and familiar with the Max Hoffman story. If you are a history dork for Porsche you love this car, as I do.

Oh, I just took first place at a Concors d Elegance for best design over a Guntherwerks car (yes that’s crazy, but it happened).

My point is, get the facts right, don’t bash people’s cars oh and base price was $184 not $140.

the azzure blue has been retired !!! they also did this for france…. they built a different variation …. you guys may not like the appearsnce of this car but many do …..the premium is not 40 k.
