Family Feud’s Steve Harvey halts show to mock contestant’s answer – but host makes his own mistake during Fast Money
After the Family Feud host joked about one player's answer earlier on in the airing, he was met with an awkward situation during the Fast Money segment.
Part of the episode had Steve, 67, asking families to "name something that people do with their eyes open that others do with their eyes closed."
As the Curtis family played the round, contestant Kenny answered, "Give a speech."
The game show host then gave a fake speech with his eyes closed, leading both the family and the audience to erupt in laughter.
"I want to thank y'all for coming out here to play... You know often times... Oh, I remember back when I was just a little boy down in Welch, West Virginia," Steve joked while walking around the stage.
"I used to look up at the sun but I couldn't see nothin' cause my eyes was closed," he continued.
While Steve may have mocked one contestant earlier on, he later had to repeat himself multiple times after he was misunderstood by players.
As contestants took the stage for the show's Fast Money segment, Steve found himself in an awkward situation multiple times.
"Tell me a phrase that starts with the word 'hail,'" Steve asked both players.
The first time, player Kevin responded, "Hell no."
After the timer was done, Steve gave Kevin a second chance to change his response, noting that he said "hail," not "Hell."
When it was Kenny's turn to play Fast Money, he made the said exact mistake, giving Steve an answer of "Hell raiser."
Once again, the host spelled out "h-a-i-l" for Kenny and gave him extra time to change his answer.
Kenny switched his response to "Hail Mary," although the family still fell short of scoring 200 combined points.
Steve has had no shortage of memorable moments on both Family Feud and Celebrity Family Feud this week.
On Tuesday, the host was left completely confused after one player gave an oddly specific response to a question related to bathroom time.
As two people battled it out at the podium, Steve asked them to "name a place that always has a long bathroom line."
One player immediately responded, "Chik-fil-A."
Steve was left speechless as he stared back at the contestant with an open mouth, seemingly needing a few seconds to comprehend the response.
"I just had to say something," she said as the crowd laughed.
Steve gave a similar response during the Celebrity spinoff recently as Meghan Trainor took on the show with her husband, Daryl Sabara, brothers Ryan and Justin Trainor, and her best friend Chris Olsen.
The Me Too singer was asked, "Give me something your lover can put on you but nobody else can?"
"A towel?" she replied, as Steve was left completely confused.
"A what?" he asked.
Meghan explained her response, saying she always forgets a towel when showering and that her husband has to bring her one.
The episode came after Celebrity Family Feud celebrated its 10th anniversary and landmark 100th episode last week.
