advent of code 2019 - day 12 (python + kotlin)

it's day 12 of advent of code! this one is a bit of a fun object tracking / gravity simulation problem -- I need a bit of a hint to get part 2 but other than that it went smoothly. my kotlin solution was also not so bad either!

idk if anyone reads these comments but I do a lot of kotlin p much exclusively in IntelliJ and so I knew what was wrong with his code each time he got a compiler error but wow the Kotlin compiler is like ??? useless at generating error messages??
