It seemed like "narcissistic rage". In that moment all he cared about was insulting her to reestablish his perceived "dominance". If she complemented him, he'd call her his best friend. Because in that moment he honestly thought so.

The problem is, when asked if she had X percentage of native American blood, she deflected the question by saying that it had nothing to do with percentage but more about cultural heritage and at that moment it became very clear to anyone with an open mind that Elizabeth Warren, despite all the good things she has done, lied on this issue. She was not Indian, is not Indian and will not be Indian. Did she use her "Indian identity" to get benefits from university hiring process? Highly likely considering how she kept refusing to reveal the documents that could have settled the issue once and for all. Trump mocked Warren for her blatant lie about her own identity and it was not a personal attack when Warren was not Indian and was outright lying about it.

This story finally made me consider Trump a racist. I'm in the Milo and Rubin camp about not labeling others as bigots or racists, but Trump actually assumed that because of her race that she must not have worked as hard as a white person. If he had evidence of affirmative action, I'd hold off, but having no justification literally means that he considers a person's character by only looking at his skin, even knowing if the black person was raised in the suburbs with the Brady Bunch.

Indigenous people universally refer to themselves as Indian and many (including Russell Means) said they prefer it and in fact consider "Native American" to be patronizing. It's not offensive. Not exactly racist on Trump's part, just childish.
