Iran is expected to do something to Israel in the near future so we walk through a few options on the overt and covert side of things.

It’s completely unlikely that the bomb was placed months in advance. All covert operations have one strict rule. If you’re able to plant a bomb, you must be able to remove the bomb if your window to detonate that bomb has come and gone.
Leaving an unexploded ordinance, only increase risks that it will be found and if that’s the case, then that only increases security. The bomb was not placed months ago, but most likely on the day of.

The usual guilding principle for Iranian decision making is what will further the stability of the regime. To that point a limited overt strike seems the most likely. Inaction risks emboldening anti-regime factions but a declared war would cause too much social stress. Iranian will likely attempt to keep within this boundary.

I think you need to take into account that Iran needs the response to be highly visible or even symbolic. The major issue is not the killing of Haniyah - it's that Iran was humiliated, and that can only be resolved with an obvious attack. Therefore, I don't think a covert cyber attack which is not directly attributable to Iran is a likely scenario.

Lets be honest, while Israel depends financially on tech, Iranian regime depends on oil. Oil is a real substance that can be burnt. Yemenies got a small taste of how it feels. Despite their threats afterwards, no missiles are sent anymore from Yemen. Im sure Iraninans have so much more to lose

The problem with the cyberattack idea is that they've been hammering Israeli cyber infrastructure since the start of the war. Israeli cyberspace is as defended as Israeli airspace (reminds me specifically of an AMA done by the group that hacked the heritage foundation who said that random private Israeli companies have better defenses than US national security targets) and even if they have some NotPetya level attack up their sleeve there is no guarantee that launching it would not inflict the same damage fivefold on Iran (flashback to an "Iranian hacktivist" group shutting down 70% of Iran's oil pumps).

It already came out that Israel had 2 IRGC soldiers plant a bomb around 5pm and then the bomb was remotely detonated around 2am according to security footage. Then those 2 guards escaped and are now somewhere in Europe.

Iran’s missile and drone attack was a kinetic message. The rockets, missiles and drone came in waves. Allowing the IDF launchers to reload. The could have been a coordinated attack so all weapons entered IDF air space at the same time. Coordinating this attack would have been simple artillery mathematics.
