I have idiopathic insomnia and they tried roofies with me (flunitrazepam) while they were still trying to figure out if the cause was neurological, psychological or a mixture of both. It's such a controlled substance here (because of the abuse potential) that only 3 pharmacies will give you (not sell you, give you), one of them being the one in the Ministry of Health itself. Turns out I'm immune to being roofied. After the 3rd one I gave up and I wasn't even sleepy or groggy and had to return the remaining ones to one of those pharmacies.

So, I'd like to comment on the induced vomiting part. I've had to induce vomiting on several occasions in my life due to food impaction (food that gets caught in the throat, but doesn't restrict your airway). On two occasions, I had to have an endoscopy to have the impaction removed. I can't think of another solution apart from being more cautious, such as eating more slowly or taking smaller bites.
