The month of October is celebrated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women worldwide, with at least 2.1 million women affected each year. The cancer patient's journey is made of strength, determination, persistence, and a sense of hope in the battle against cancer. Our patients inspire us every day. We tell their stories here, as a tribute to them.
Mrs Mohita Mathur was diagnosed with cancer in 2015. Hearing the word cancer was life-shattering for her as well as her entire family. She met her doctors after the detection and her journey of fighting cancer started. Chemotherapy was very emotionally and physically draining but made her mentally strong and faced all the pain like a brave warrior and she recovered from it. In 2019 cancer reoccurred, she underwent treatment under the guidance of Dr Shona Nag and she fought this battle. She requests everyone that never lose hope. Trust your doctor and take care of yourself. Just be mentally strong and fight back. You will surely win this battle.
In the case of cancer, it is very important not to waste time. Be aware of any unusual signals in your body. Do not ignore it. Do self-examination of your breast regularly.
