The "Alliance for American Manufacturing" wants American consumers to pay more for goods that use steel. This isn't about jobs, it's about an industry trying to get protection from competitors who have outsmarted them in a global market.

The annoying thing is almost all of the Chinese steel is low quality and contaminated, so it's not very strong and corrodes very quickly. That's why it's so cheap. It's not like American, British or German steel.
Any metalworker or welder who has to work with Chinese steel will tell you it's crap.
