Nah, this is pretty common. Maybe not the temperature thing, but I think most people are naturally unable to effectively measure distance, time, weight and the like.

"Run 30 feet. Give or take a foot" sounds like a Saw trap where you're feet are amputated if you don't do it.

As someone who was always bad at distances/measurements a huge help was taking a week to memorize different lengths of measurement on my body.

The tip of my thumb to the tip of my pointer in a finger gun is ~6 inches.

The length of my foot is ~10 inches.

The distance between my two outstretched hands is ~6ft.

The first joint of my middle finger is ~1 inch.

With those I am able to quickly estimate most things really quickly.

as somebody who is 6'4, I have a lot of girls asked me "have you ever dated short girls before?". And my response is almost always "almost primarily, all girls are Short"

I mean I do have dyscalculia and experience all those things, but I'm pretty sure they're not related. I can only tell measurements based on what I know to be true about myself. Plus, dyscalculia is a learning disorder that affects your ability to easily do basic number functions (like addition or recognizing long numbers) and it usually messes with your processing speed. It's not this.

I have dyscalculia and this is something else. I’m very good at judging distances and temps and whatever else

My dad will try to give me directions and mention feet and miles and I just give him the blankest stare because hmm. What’re those?

To be fair, the imperial system doesn’t help.

Humans are good at things like quick mathematics and measurements, we just put all these pesky words to it that are difficult.

We can pick up a bottle of water and know how full it is just by feeling it and shaking it around. Can I tell you why though? No. This is what this is.

The problem is obvious, they refuse to learn the metric system and all these alternate systems make it so he has all these difficulties. 😂

Thats just a mixture of being aloof and not having experience with measurements.

I have a neurodevelopmental condition called Non-Verbal Learning Disorder (NVLD), and this sounds a lot like that. NVLD has some overlap with autism and ADHD, but its deficits are primarily things relating to visual-spatial information.

As a human with dysgraphia (dyslexia but with numbers) id prolly end up dead because i heard the number wrong. (If it was like 32 instead of 30) and run 23 feet instead. Id run _exactly_ 23 feet with minimal innacuracy, but id still get alt-f4ed by the scary clown man.

It’s not dyscalculia, I have what the post is describing aswell. Anyone know what the actual term for it is?

Both this video and these comments make me downright terrified for the average IQ of our species....
