I did taxes for individuals and business. I had a business man get upset that his taxes were $3000 more than the previous year. He had made about $50k more than the previous year. He said "I should have just spent my time relaxing than working if I knew it was going to cost me 3k!" I asked him why would he give up the additional $50k income to avoid paying $3k? He is still $47k ahead! People opposed to taxes still want the benefit of them. He was a Long Haul trucker and always complained about the cost of blown tires from bad roads.
