Im the same way about only buying gold filled jewelry. Its disappointing when I look at well known brands and they sell $50+ stuff that is gold plated.

I'm looking into upgrading my look and have been researching jewelry as well as other staple wardrobe items so this was really helpful. Based on my most recent search, I was under the impression that plated jewelry would only tarnish if it's scratched etc, so thank you so much for touching on, this was super helpful. I tell myself I can't afford unnecessary mistakes bc I'm not as young as I used to be, I work hard and so I think of a purchase as an investment. I want to make sure that I'm properly educated so that when I make an investment, I don't have to worry if it will turn out to be unwise. Thanks again for this enlightening share.

Plated will always tarnish unfortunately. I've had that happen so many times with pieces that I loved, so I'm really careful now. I've had some really good luck with sterling silver and gold filled stuff on Etsy, I'm surprised you've had some duds.
