RIP Peter Serkin. We are greatly saddened by your passing, but thankful and fortunate to live in a time when your musical performances may live on in YouTube formats such as this one displaying your great talent on Bach's Goldberg Variations!

I heard Peter Serkin play The Bach D Minor piano concerto at Caramoor in 1992 when the electricity had gone out and he approached the piano carrying a candle. An indominiatable spirit.

Magnificent playing; clarity of line and beauty of tone. He really understood this piece. What a loss!!

More-than-impressive performance. Enjoy it more than almost any other, especially the clarity of the bass giving us the variations. His dad would always have been very proud of him. Thank you for the upload - to be treasured and replayed ad infinitum.

I heard him play some Brahms with Tashi at Marlboro, during the school year in the Seventies. I think I have never heard a pianist play with such emotional force.

and just over 2 years later he's RIP Peter Serkin. As a clarinetist I'm so thankful you made a recording of the Brahms Sonatas and Schumann Fantasy Pieces with Harold Wright in '92. These recordings will be treasured always.

MARVELING at the surprisingly wonderful TEMPO which MR. SERKIN has chosen to play this often rapidly played piece! I think I am going to prefer this speed from now on and shun those who prefer to rush through it like demons! ♥♥♥♥♥

From the opening notes, Peter Serkin already engages the listener to a journey of the spirit. What an exhilarating voyage and one realizes pleasant surprises. Thanks for the route.

For me, these variations are very meditative. Like reflections on various themes. Wonderful.

I think it´s a "quiet fire "performance, thoughtful and with constant energyflow... very very good
