I will be posting a video on that. However, physically I will be using two 2950's, two 3550's all connected to a GNS3 server using the Quad-NIC method.

I will probably be held back from starting my CCNP Route exam because I'm still waiting for some of the equipments or parts to come in. I will probably extend my CCNP Route exam another month.

what is the Cisco 2500 series router connected to? And with what connection cable?

I'm not familiar with the 2120 routers... I think that one may be too old to be of any use anymore. Get yourself 2 more 2611's and you should be good.

Don't forget 2 (or if you want 4) WIC-1T cards for your routers. 1 (or 2 if you get 4 WIC-1Ts) DCE/DTE cables. Two 3-ft crossover cables, and three to six 7-ft straight through cables.

Get all the cables on Monoprice website. And the WIC-1T's on ebay.

Part of learning Cisco is to learn to put your lab together...

1 x 1721 - $30
2 x 2611 - $50 ea
2 x 2950 - $40 ea
2 x WIC-1T - $25 ea
Cables from Monoprice - $30

Total: Around $290 with shipping and all.

you need regular cables, some crossovers, and DCE/DTE cables. Part of going through your studies is to do the research on the things you need. So hopefully by now you've got things figured out. Thanks :)

funny, my room mate is from Rochester, NY as well. His name is Rohit, not sure if you would know him. He is here in Seattle with me. At the time I used to live in south Texas

It's a tough world out there. Just keep applying anywhere you can. A ccnp should get your foot in the door if you're in the right area. If you're not in a good area for networking jobs you WILL need to move to find one.

Jorge nice videos. Very helpful. Is as wondering do you think that packet tracer would suffice for ccna training vs buying the physical equipment? Thanks for the help.

i ment to say the 2621 instead of 2120 lol.. also i am about to graduate in getting my networking degree but i dont really have experience in the field so in your opinion, you think i could get an job with an CCNA or i have to finish off my ccnp when i get to bridge?

Hi Jorge,

I've been watching your videos and wanted to say thanks! I'm currently taking the 100-101-ICND1 course this week (started on Monday). I purchasing 1x 1721, 2x 2611, 2x 2950 and 2x WIC-1T like you recommended. Do you have any other suggestions based on your experience? I plan on going all the way up to CCNP for routing/switching and wanted to furture proof myself. Thanks!!! And congrats on new job!

Thanks for your video, I'm working on getting my CCENT and also bought a lab from amazon, it came with two 2651xm routers, one 1841 router, two 2950 catalyst switches. My question is that do you need internet access it also came with a DVD with a bunch of labs, my question is first off what do you think and do I need internet access.

There's no real way to future proof a lab. But check out my CCNP Lab video I have. Should let you know what I used.

If you want to get physical routers rather than a GNS3 server, I think you would need four 2611XM's or two 1841's and two 2611's... but that' up to you and your budget.

I have a CCNA lab too. whats the best straight through cable to connect my 3 routers to my 3 switches together. I'm trying to work through my lab workbook. once I have all 3 routers and all 3 switches connected together, what will be the next step or what will I be able to do with them once theyre all connected together? Sorry, new to networking.

Nice video.. I passed my ICND1 last week and am building a CCNA lab right now. I got 2 2950 switches locally. I just ordered 2 2611xm's from ebay yesterday. I might get an access server soon as well. How long did you study for the CCNA after you passed your CCENT? My goal is to pass ICND2 by SEP 30th. What was the hardest subject you had on the exam?

Nice lab. I bought one brand new 1811 router for 150$. And I'll buy a 2960 brand new switch later. I don't like used stuffs. I'll do rest of the practices in simulators.

However it is very simple once you start taking the courses you'll figure it out.

P.S. Don't forget the console cable and a USB to Serial converter is you need one. You won't get very far unless you have that LOL
