Parliament Session: The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha commenced today, featuring eight sittings until July 3. The resurgent Opposition, poised to challenge the NDA government on issues like the NEET-NET exam paper leak in parliament. They also has questions around the appointment of BJP MP Bhartruhari Mahtab as the pro-tem Speaker. The Opposition argues that eight-term Lok Sabha member Kodikunnil Suresh should have been appointed as Lok Sabha Speaker, following the convention of naming the senior-most MP. Despite the contention, seven-term MP Bhartruhari Mahtab will take the oath today and then administer the oath to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Council of Ministers as members of the House.
