time travelers

This one was a challenge to put together. Inspired by the movie Primer as well as Michel Gondry's music video for Sugar Water by Cibo Matto, I wanted to try to make something that lined up not only in space, but also in time.

So, starting with a Golden Triangle, each copy of it is not only scaled by Phi (~1.618) but also offset by 120 frames. What you are seeing here is actually only one animation built on one triangle, which has been then duplicated along a logarithmic spiral and offset in time over and over. When a flamingo crosses from one triangle into an adjacent triangle, it is actually disappearing from the triangle and reappearing on the same one in the past or future. When placed next to a triangle that is offset in time, however, it lines up and appears to be moving down one continuous rail. I hope you enjoy watching this and figuring it out as much as I have. It still stumps me when I try to understand what's going on.
