An Amazon Data Center is Using Nuclear Power

Amazon just bought a data center in Pennsylvania that will be powered by a nuclear plant nearby.

What's crazy is that when Amazon gets to full capacity on the campus they will be drawing 1/3 of the total power generated by the power plan (which is the 6th largest nuclear power plant in the US).

Are you as concerned as I am that we are heading towards a huge imbalance of electricity demand & supply?

Was inside the building a few weeks ago to survey it. I work for a networking company that is delivering network transport gear to it. They’re expecting about 800 server racks to be inside of it. Curious to know where you heard 1/3 of the power from that plant will power it

Are you worried that demand for electricity is increasing at a pace that far exceeds the supply? If so, how do we deal with this challenge?

I can't exactly say how i know, but I heard there are some people in Pennsylvania that are going against Amazon in a lawsuit. It makes me wonder if it has anything to do with this center? There are a lot of people that are against Nuclear Energy, and I'm not just talking about the Greenthumbs. There are many who just don't want to risk living by a reactor, especially after seeing what happened to Chernobyl.

That's awesome. I wish we had more nuclear power plants. Skynet will be born there.
