I do not want a mansion or sports cars, or designer clothes, when I win I'll look after family and friends of course and buy myself a modest detached home for much valued peace & quiet and privacy. It seems to be the assumption that the winner immediately will spend the money.
That's an idiotic way to view the windfall.
The sensible thing to do is to invest the money and live off the interest.
It's easily done and you can budget the interest monthly and still have a nice lifestyle.
That way you can still have the principal amount and you can leave money in your will to those around you.
