I’m retired US ARMY and have a BA in History… I’ve never pledged allegiance to an individual per se, it’s always been the the US Constitution and the possibilities of what it offers… the fact that greedy HO’s keep getting elected and fail miserably at representing the people is a different matter altogether. I love my flag and I love the idea of what it could be if enough people decide it’s important enough to achieve.

When the law and justice is not handed out equally, we are WROL, without question, was just having this discussion with my husband this morning. We are a law unto ourselves. In a just world, hasn't the Hunter Biden case set a precedent we should be able to refer back to in our own future defense of similar charges (firearms, not drugs and hookers, that creep)? Unfortunately, we do not live in a just world and the system is stacked against us. My disabled veteran husband just said that July 4th is a joke and why pay homage to what the country used to be? What Independence Day? We are independent of NOTHING, certainly not China. I agree with you. Why pledge allegiance to a dead country that has turned Marxist? My biological family fought oppression in the early 60's as Castro came to power and my father was executed for it. It still happened, they never returned and Cuba is still a Marxist country. We see the seeds of that now in our country, the buildup to a true dictatorship. We are far into the process, I believe. Maybe I'm wrong, but that is where I believe we are now. So, we are working on our further separation from the system.

Im listening while canning . I have spoke to several deputies & basically, crime has risen to a point to where your case will go cold overnight (unless undeniable proof of perpetrator). Cant say on here what i was advised to do but i hope im not put in that position.

The only survivable resistance model I see are the Mexican cartels. They have achieved cover from governmental figures - almost certainly using the "carrot and stick" approach, which allows to them to operate on the ground. The cartels are careful in picking their area of operations, which is probably essential. Maybe it's not necessary for a cartel to be evil(?) This option could lead to extreme violence, but at least one wouldn't die of boredom.

Other groups (e.g. the IRA, various biker gangs and the US gangsters of the 1920's and 1930's) have not proven to be self-sustainable against a national government (I know that Australia has defanged their own biker gangs, although Australia disarmed itself first, so maybe that's not a valid example).

Another model might be the "hippie commune". Heck, get some tie-dyed tee-shirts, listen to a little Grateful Dead, and the govt might even subsidize you. You can always have your underground lair where sanity reigns.

And, finally, I did have a good friend who long ago, under the same circumstances, simply chose the option of escaping from Communist Romania. The problem with that option today is ... "Escape to where?".

The "hippie commune" option is looking better all the time!
