All this is a backhanded admission that narcissists suffer from an extremely warped ego development and have a nearly non-existent sense of identity. What's being described here is dependency dressed up as something else. The psyche of the narcissist is so fractured they come close to suffering from DID.

Narcissists are the ultimate codependents, though they certainly won't admit it. They're codependent with a lot of people instead of just one, but they're still massively codependent.

No narcissist can stand on his/her own two feet emotionally. Those who are forced to do without their "crutches" (i.e., human props and punching bags) simply collapse. Non-narcissists have to understand this.

This makes sense as to why I was being treated that way by the narcs. I was only viewed as an object. The narcs made sure to wear me down by dehumanizing me.
