My 60 yr old sister who was fine one day then when I called her about a week or so later was speaking very very slowly over the phone. When she first went to the Dr. she was thought to have had a stroke. As her speech was very slow and had weakness in her right arm. She also was choking every time she tried to eat or drink which has led to a lot of weight loss. Well after her second examination she was told she has Dementia at the time I havent noticed any memory loss and I never heard of someone with dementia not be able to speak clearly. Because of her choking and not being able to drink she is now down to 107 lbs. Shes about 5'5". and her average weight was always about 130-140 lbs. She had her esophagus checked and the Drs. found that she had a Haital Hernia, Barrets Esophogus, and what the Dr. said was some rings that he "broke up" during the exam this was supposed to open it up so she can eat without choking Well this seemed to work for about a day. Now she is constantly coughing up flegm she still cant eat without choking and I cant even make out what shes trying to say anymore this all happened in a span of about 2 weeks. She just had a chest xray and they said it looked like some fluid in her lungs. She cant talk she just makes moaning sounds we cant understand I used to be able to communicate with her through text and now she cant even make a full sentence part of that could be because she had surgery on her right hand and cant text right. I feel like shes deteriorating so fast and the Drs. keep just doing exams. I feel like she should be admitted into the hospital. Btw she never had any symptoms of indigestion or heartburn through all this.

My son was diagnosed with hiatal hernia today. Everything that he eats comes right back out. He has been suffering from this for a year and a half. I am very worried he was told that he don't need surgery. That they are going to put him on meds. He has been taking all kinds of meds and nothing is working. I don't know what kind of meds they are going to give him this time. And he told the doctor that the meds are going to come right back up. Because everything that he puts in his mouth comes right back up.

i have indigestion and burning, oh the burning yet the upper endoscopies can’t really show a hiatal hernia.
the results say: small suspected intermitting hiatal hernia
I have severe burning and indigestion and I can’t understand how a hernia they can’t see could possibly cause the symptoms all day every day.
could someone explain it?
