Antarctica is a landmass, the North Pole is open ocean.

Yes people fail to realize the massive penguin army with their ice sword, orca torpedos, and slapping capabilities

No, Antarctica is way SMALLER than i thought. The blob at the bottom of maps made my 6 year old brain think it’s bigger than russia
Unpos_sible
I used to think Antarctica was just an ice sheet didn't think there was land under it

"Usually, Antarctica appears as a crinkly white stripe along the bottom of the map."
"Or, for those watching in Mercator projection, a massive splodge of white twice the size of all the other land on earth combined."

You didn't really tell us anything we didn't already know for being such a "misunderstood place"

I definitely thought it was a lot smaller

To be more accurate: Antartica is actually way smaller that this video makes out. Antartica is actually an archipelago similar to southeast Asia, and it seems way bigger to the ice sheets on the ocean.

I’m glad he clarified in the 21st century. As someone watching from the 24th century I was very confused for a moment

Oh yeah, Kaliningrad "Asia" 💀

Imagine how many parking lots we could put there

Expeditions to Antarctica is no easy task, but there have been expeditions to the South Pole in the middle of the continent as well as expeditions to cross the entire length of it as well. That’s walking across an entire continent in frozen, uninhabitable conditions.

Thanks for the video. Just woke up couldn’t ask for anything better.

Was listening to HP Lovecraft’s “At the mountains of madness, ” which is a horror story involving a scientist to fix expedition to Antarctica, earlier today when this popped up in my feed. Really helped drive some plot points home for me!

Europe is not that small. There is a Russian part of it that makes it atleast 25% bigger.

I've always been curious to know what could be frozen under all that ice.
aaronshumate
Antarctica is way smaller when you remove all the ice. So it's still the same size that I thought it was.

Uncle Artica is the skinny bald continent no one speaks about.😂

I always thought Antarctica was the largest continent. It really is just the fifth largest? It just looks so much bigger than the rest.

Well, if you drag Antarctica to warm waters, it will shrink 30%. Meaning that if you drag other continents to the poles, they will enlarge because of gaining ice cover.
Without ice, 70% of current Antarctica it's still bigger than Australia, equal to Europe, smaller than South America.
