That bass was Chris's brainchild (he's our "boss" and the guy playing Sure Know Something and Distant Early Warning here) originally to show off McGrath's custom-build abilities, and then it blossomed into a signature-model collaboration.

I got a pawn shop bass I cut into and installed single coil neck guitar pickup, a humbucker in the bridge and a staggered bass set in the middle. I used pots to mix together the tones rather than switches. It ripped hard.

G&L L-1000 is the best P-Bass of all time. It was Leo Fender's final evolution of the P-Bass, and it's a beast.

I own one and it’s great. So versatile, selling some of my collection as it has replaced many. Neck is thin and fast 12 inch radius. Easy access to the upper frets. This bass is the one bass to rule them all!!

I did roughly the same thing about 23 years ago to my Squire 5 String P Bass Special. I put an EMG LJ5 at the bridge, 40P5 in place of the original P, and an SJ5 up by the neck. Individual volume control for all three with a master tone.
