Question: why would a defendant’s attorneys go through the process of making all of these specious and, frankly, perverse machinations? It makes their defendant look worse and seems a lot different from simply protecting his legal rights.

It seems like a misuse of our system that costs the public a lot of money. Obvs not just this case. The questions is a general one that had bothered me for years.
