I apologize for the sickness, it's been brutal. But I'm finally feeling better, so next few videos should sound a lot better :)

I was annoyed when FitBit took over and cancelled Pebble, I was on my second Pebble at the time with a metal case version, the watches were great, you could tell the time outside and didn't need to be close to a power source every day! Pebble a lost treasure scooped up by a big brand that was then scooped up by an even bigger brand. These days I wear a watch powered by a spring or a Casio. I don't want all those notifications that it's raining outside or that someone spilt a coffee on some clothing and that spoiled there whole life. Anyway thanks for sharing, it brought back some memories.

I have a personal rule against pre-ordering anything... but I ended up pre-ordering the RePebble Core Time 2.

Didn't expect a video on Pebble to appear on this channel. I'm a longtime Pebble fan, my Pebble Time basically hasn't left my wrist since I got it in 2016. Pre-ordered both the new watches the minute they went live, hope you got one too!

Love your keyboard content but would be keen to watch your views on other gadgets too (like this one!)

The Pebble was insanely ahead of its time

I had a first generation Pebble, which for the time was great. It didn't have the sort of integrations and utility that the Apple Watch has now, but at the time just getting a notification of texts on my wrist was enough to make it worth it. Used it for a good long time, until it started refusing to charge. Eventually upgraded into an Apple Watch, and didn't look back. The only thing I miss is the battery life. E-ink displays are crazy efficient.

I had the original Pebble and Pebble Steel. I really liked them. I still use my Steel from time-to-time. It retains apps and services through Rebble. The hardware still works, but occasionally it has graphical glitches.

I am interested to see what the new Pebbles (Core) pans out.

Also, a note - the Pebbles don't have E-Ink displays, the kind that are used in most E-Book readers that retain the image when not powered. It has a "e-paper" display, which despite sounding similar is a instead a low-powered LCD. It still needs to retain power to the screen to keep an image.

I hope they improved their charging. I still have my Pebble Time in a box somewhere. The pogo pins wore out long before my watch did. I loved the speech to text messaging. It was way ahead of its time.

Over 7 days of battery life

Xiaomi: Hold my watch. 2 weeks to a month battery life 😂

When my Pebble needed a repair I switched to a Galaxy Watch and while it works I've missed the Pebble every single day after that. Pebble had most of the features of any modern smart watch and some unique features on top of that and 5 days of battery.

I'm actually at a point in my life where Im reevaluating what tech I need & what I specifically need it for. For a long time my phone was my swiss army knife that did it all, but now Im wnting to segregate tasks so that some things (such as social media & online shopping) don't overpower other things I like (like reading, watching movies, or playing games).
What Im looking for in a watch for example is simple - time management (ie - be able to set alarms, connect to my calendar & todo list), body tracking/fitness (ie - GPS tracking, can connect to some platform that helps me navigate new runs, heart rate sensor, & connect to some fitness tracking platform), & on demand voice recording.
That being said, I've been giving the new pebble a hard look bc it seems to do everything I want without the screen glare & Samsung's bloatware. There's even a stand alone Spotify app so I wouldn't need to carry my phone w/ me when I go out jogging unlike Samsung's remote app.
Ive already got the Time 2 pre-ordered

The pebble issue is a common kickstarter issue. This has happened on many campaigns

I was a part of that Kickstarter along with many more, JIBO. it was actually a decent product and if I remember correctly, they deliver close to being on time if not on time.

I had a Pebble back in the day. The watch was nice. The downside was just that the integrations and notifications weren’t as smooth as the Apple Watch. Basically never really used the notifications and it was essentially just a quirky Casio with worse battery life.
