Introduction to Database Management System | DBMS tutorial for beginners | Great Learning

Today, we have data present everywhere around us in the form of text, bills, photos, videos, messages etc. Hence, It's management has become really important. Today, we'll be discussing the Database Management System. This tutorial will introduce you to the basic functions that a Database Management System performs.

The database can be called a collection of data. A database usually contains one or more tables and we apply different functionalities to the records of this database. A Database Management System is system software for creating and managing these databases. SQL is the standard language for Database Management System. The major functions of a DBMS are storing, manipulating, defining and retrieving the data in databases.

In this tutorial, we will be teaching about Data Definition, Data Manipulation and Data Control. We’ll also discuss how the data is extracted and fetched. Through various examples, we will teach you how to update, read, create, delete data in a database.
