This scene actually makes me so sad because that’s her remembering her dead siblings and father

What makes me sad is that I already knew what became of the entire Romanov family even before this animated film was released. I've seen the live-action Anastasia before and she was played by Ingrid Bergman. I searched about the story and found out about the assassination, which broke my young heart back then.

The detail in this movie is incredible. They even gave the ghost of little Alexei a limp 😭

A reflection AND a shadow. Watching the movie the first time I saw this I didn’t notice. It wasn’t until years later when I was a little older that I noticed. That’s how you knew it was just fake, just a dream, or just a memory. That’s how you know the other family members aren’t really there. 😔

I never actually noticed 😅. It makes sense clearly, but at the same time, the animators really didn’t have to bother doing that and I appreciate them adding that detail.

Other details in the scene are:

*Olga, Tatiana, Maria, and Alexi have different hair colors from their portrait. Olga was a dark brunette, Tatiana was a red head, and Maria & Alexi were blonde.
But once they come to life in Anastasia/Anya's memories they're all deep red heads (and the sisters look like triplets).

Poor Anastasia was killed alongside her family.She survived the shooting by the diamonds sewn into her corset but was murdered by bolsheviks bayonets. She later was buried with some distance from the rest of her family. That gave rise to the myth that she somehow has escaped the execution. Poor princess not only hot murdered, but in worst possible way😢
