😮 This is how Rich Michael Jackson Really Was

Michael Jacksons' bodyguard Matt Fiddes tells how rich Michael Jackson was and how he bought Eminem's whole catalog.

In 2007, Michael Jackson purchased the publishing rights to a collection of songs that included Eminem's music. This acquisition occurred through Jackson's company, Sony/ATV Music Publishing, which bought Famous Music LLC from Viacom for approximately $370 million. Famous Music's catalog included a vast array of songs from various artists, including Eminem.

This move was particularly notable because, in 2004, Eminem had released a music video for his song "Just Lose It," which parodied Jackson and included references to the controversies surrounding him at the time. Despite the past friction between the two artists, Jackson's acquisition of the publishing rights meant that he would earn money whenever Eminem's music from that catalog was played or used commercially.

MJ brought the Beatles rights after working with Paul McCartney. McCartney told him the real money wasn't in writing or performing. It was owning the rights

A buddy of mine named Dwayne worked a crew of painters that would work at mjs house whenever he needed. He said that mj had tons of guidelines about working there like you had to wear new shoes and painters overalls every day you were there so you didn't contaminate his area. He loved it because Michael was fully willing to pay for all that stuff so after the job you'd just have nice new (Nike, plain Jane white) shoes and painters overalls for years courtesy of the king of pop.

Anyway, thats my story. Thanks for reading. Rest in peace Dwayne.

Greatest businessman in music history. Michael Jackson. In 1984 when he bought the Beatles catalog for $47 million ppl said he was overpaying. That investment alone ended up making the Jackson estate 1.2 billion. He didn’t stop with the Beatles catalog. He plowed much of his money into buying all kinds of other musicians catalogs. He was the single biggest owner of published music in the entire world!!! Every time one of the songs he owned was played he made money. The licensing rights were paid by movie studios to him and the people whom produced commercials. There should be a book on just how amazing a businessman Michael really was.

Michael owned many catalogues not only Eminem’s.

Through his ownership of the Sony/ATV catalogue and other business dealings, Michael Jackson owned rights to a wide range of artists’ catalogues, including:

1. The Beatles
2. Elvis Presley
3. Bob Dylan
4. Little Richard
5. Sly and the Family Stone
6. The Beach Boys
7. Marvin Gaye
8. Whitney Houston
9. Bruce Springsteen
10. Joni Mitchell
11. Stevie Wonder
12. Aretha Franklin
13. James Brown

This is not even an exhaustive list, as the catalogue contained thousands of songs across various genres and artists. The Sony/ATV catalogue was one of the largest and most valuable music publishing businesses in the world. Michael Jackson without doubt is the world’s greatest businessman pop icon to ever exist and that’s no exaggeration.

My favourite MJ story is Paul McCartney told Michael if he wants to make real money, buy the rights to songs. So, Michael went and bought all the Beatles songs.
Still makes me laugh.

MJ was an extremely, extremely influential man in many ways. There was no bigger name in music for decades. He was a very powerful man

That speaks volumes, he didnt sue him but instead bought all the rights to his catalog. That a big flex and good way to get him to shut up

That was a boss move! I was impressed with that! It was like 300million and he just did it like it was a yard sale find!

Jackson had a 50% stake in a media company that bought Eminem's "back catalogue" in 2007.

Michael flexed on everyone! People slept on him because of his demeanor. But, but he was a shrewd businessman. He was in the works of buying up some of the Marvel/DC universe. He also started speaking out about the industry. He was the man. He spoke softly, and carried $$$!

Michael bought James Brown’s catalog and presented it to him as in honoring James. Many artists whose music Michael owned were pissed because they thought Michael would give them their music but he didn’t. Michael was a very shrewd businessman. That’s what I loved most about him ❤

You can buy the catalogue from the label.

He doesn't have to buy all of it, its the same as any business, he could just put in 25% of the labels shares and earn 25% of all royalties
