this is such a simple concept that i wish more people understood; don't take good away from others, demand better for yourself.

I understand that argument but I can also understand the argument that prison shouldn’t be a nice place to go. But I say that with also wanting to find away to not unnecessarily incarcerate people.

Please explain to me how playing hockey is instrumental in the rehabilitation of inmates. Seems a rather costly form of prisoner entertainment to me, especially if injuries are factored in. In many states, the prisons have dog rescue and training programs that serve multiple purposes. Inmates learn care and compassion for animals, which can be translated to humans. Inmates learn to foster relationships with animals, which can be translated to humans. Dogs are saved, trained, and given the opportunity to be adopted into homes where a child will often learn the same things the inmates learned. It's a win-win for many people, but it requires funding. Instead of spending money on the facilities and equipment for a sport that often promotes violent behavior, better to spend it on something that actually facilitates prison inmates becoming better humans.
