That is the problem with PCG and the current leadership. The Philippines can initiate a non military response but unfortunately corrupt officials are concerned with other matters.

Pres. Marcos Jr. let the mid range missiles stay for our security and to maintain our purpose to act in case China initiate the first move.

American electronic sea mines should be deployed around islands in the WPS claimed by the Philippines to deter the Chinese Coast Guard, PLAN and its Maritime Militia. The mines could be made difficult to clear, e.g., by rising or sinking in the water column, by following Chinese ships it detects, or by moving with the current. However, if the mines are cleared by China new mines could be deployed again. Rinse and repeat. When the Philippines wants to enter through the mine field it can use the deactivation code it receives from America. When the Philippines wants to reactivate the mine field it can do so by using a new code to do so. The sea mines would be owned by the Philippines. The sea mines could be deployed clandestinely by American submarines or by transport aircraft.

Weld great hardened steal saw teeth strategically around the outside of the native Philippine ship. Not for the dramatic and not offensive but due to the nature of the CCPing Chinese so called by CCP Chinese coast guard ships. In addition, take out tugs with these features so as the CCPing weaponized coast guard attempt to push your ship the tug cannot merely hold its ground but push back hard enough countermeasures out those hardened steal 2' to 4' saw tooth reinforced front to back and on both sides bight right into their toffy broadsiding. might not sink their ship but it could cut the top sides up aa bad as as hard as they themselve push at the Philippine ships in and on Philippine waters.

The Philippine squaters ignore the fact that the Sabina Shoals are a part of the Spratly Islands group to which China claims. The Philippines is trespassing in China's special economic zone, hence the nudge for the Philippine coast guard to butt out.

"After World War II, the Spratly Islands were noted by the British High Commission of Singapore as territory that was returned to China. In 1971, the following statement was made: “Spratly Island was a Chinese dependency, part of Kwangtung Province…and was returned to China after the war. We cannot find any indication of its having been acquired by any other country and so can only conclude it is still held by communist China. (Far Eastern Economic Review, December 31, 1974).”" (Maritime Executive)

"In 1946, the Americans allegedly reminded the Philippines at its independence that the Spratly Islands were not Philippine territory, both to not anger Chiang Kai-shek in China and because the Spratly Islands were not part of the Philippines per the 1898 treaty Spain signed with the United States." (Wikipedia)

Looks like the US and the Philippines have a form of dementia causing their memory to fail.

And, regarding the west Philippine sea:

"West Philippine Sea is the official designation by the government of the Philippines to the parts of the South China Sea that are included in the country's exclusive economic zone. The term is also sometimes incorrectly used to refer to the entire South China Sea. (Wikipedia)

On any international map, no designation of the west Philippine sea exists. There are no countries calling their EEC a sea.
